Pablo Picasso and Gabrielle Chanel collaborated with Jean Cocteau on two occasions: Antigone (1922) and Serge Diaghilev's Le Train Bleu (1924) for his Ballets russes. The artist and fashion designer met for the first time in the spring of 1917, most likely through Cocteau or Misia Sert, and Chanel became close and long-term acquaintances with both, who introduced her to Picasso's circle. She became acquainted with the artist and his wife during a period when he was actively working with Diaghilev's company. Chanel became inextricably linked with the Parisian artistic and intellectual world of the time, claiming that "artists have shown me how to be rigorous."

The Museo Thyssen will host an exhibition that investigates the relationship between these two creative geniuses of the twentieth century, once again bringing art and fashion together. It is divided into four major portions and follows a chronological order that roughly spans the decade from 1915 and 1925.

This catalog comprises the exhibition's material.
