This is the first monographic review of Oscar Murillo's activity, which includes painting, installations, and performance, and was published to coincide with his solo exhibition at Haus der Kunst in Munich in 2017. Murillo's work is concerned with uncovering raw materials and processes, which is represented in the design, which takes the traditional format of a cloth bound hardback book and strips off half of its bookcloth to expose the raw material underneath - in this case greyboard.

Murillo's installation-based works and paintings are presented chronologically in the book. The style of these spreads follows the presentation of the pieces, with paintings centering on the page in a typical fashion and installations put out in a more diversified manner. Many of the photos are placed to the bottom of their pages, reflecting Murillo's habit of placing his paintings on the ground. The interweaving of colored, coated, uncoated, and greyboard papers throughout the book is a nod to his textural investigations, and the endpapers are printed with close-up images of the black and white textiles featured in his work.
