For sixty years, Hockney's work has enthralled and confounded audiences. The centerpiece of Tate's exceptional collection is a collection of iconic pieces spanning all of his careers. Over a hundred of these paintings, prints, drawings, and photographs are included in this book. Together, they show the artist's shifting sources of inspiration and, more importantly, the direction his work is still moving towards. David Hockney: Moving Focus includes Hockney's well-known depictions of the Los Angeles cityscape, his beloved portraits from the 1970s, and more recent landscapes and digital images that reflect his persistent concern with time, space, and perspective. The exhibition starts in the 1950s when Hockney took his first steps toward becoming a modern artist.
