Leading British sculptor and printmaker Elisabeth Frink (1930–1993) is known for her dedication to naturalistic forms and subjects in her work. For the first time, her whole body of work as a sculptor is documented in this new version of the catalogue raisonne of her sculpture, which also features brand-new texts from a variety of critics and authors. Frink specialized in bronze outdoor sculpture with a scarred surface and painted men, birds, dogs, horses, and religious symbols among her subjects. The brutalism of war, human dread and anxiety, the male body, and the vulnerability of animals are just a few of the issues Julian Spalding examines in her sculpture and their potent manifestation. Arie Hartog's study evaluates Frink's overall impact on 20th-century figurative sculpture. Additionally, a more intimate homage to the author may be found in Michael Morpurgo's poetic short story "Muck and Magic," which was written in honor of Frink. This new edition will be a priceless tool for collectors, curators, dealers, art historians, and anyone else interested in this particular body of work because it includes a fully illustrated catalogue, updated lists of exhibits and public collections, and a thorough bibliography.
